To get married civilly in Vienna, you need to follow several steps. Here are the basic steps for a civil wedding in Vienna.
In Austria, the marriage is officiated through the personal declaration of the engaged couple in front of the civil registrar. This takes place in the presence of the couple, two witnesses, one witness, or no witnesses at all. The civil registrar asks each of the engaged individuals, one after the other, whether they wish to enter into marriage with each other. Once they affirm this question, the registrar declares that the couple is now legally married.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS FOR GETTING MARRIED IN AUSTRIA
To legally marry as a foreign couple in Austria, several essential requirements must be met. However, these requirements vary depending on the couple’s country of origin, with certain countries having specific regulations. SAME SEX MARRIAGE IN VIENNA OR AUSTRIA
In Austria, civil ceremonies conducted by a Standesamt official are the only legally recognized form of marriage. Typically, these ceremonies take place at the Standesamt offices. However, couples can arrange to hold the ceremony at an alternate location for an additional fee. Fortunately, Austria does not require a minimum residency period for marriage.
